The centerpiece is the Motion Golf Imaging (MGI) System. This system uses six high speed cameras to capture a user’s swing and/or putting stroke, and renders a 3-dimensional computer image in virtual real-time. Golfers are outfitted with a special suit and club; both have reflective markers located at strategic points which act as sensors. The system then tracks the movements of the markers using the high-speed cameras and feeds the information to a computer and high definition TV. A certified golf professional is then able to guide the student through the data. Another feature of the MGI system is the ability for a golfer to compare his or her swing to that of a PGA player in virtual reality mode.
This is the same multi-million dollar technology that, before now, was only available to PGA and LPGA Golf Professionals. The MGI System uses the same technology that won a 2005 Academy Award for Technical Achievement and has been used in Lord of the Rings, Polar Express and King Kong. As opposed to standard video technology used very often today, the motion capture technology uses 3-dimensional, real time, imaging of the customer’s golf swing. The quality of detailed information exceeds other forms of feedback.
